U.S. Poker Players Lose ePassporte
Posted by admin
While the company itself has not made a public statement yet, several sources in the online gaming world have reported that ePassporte, a major e-wallet for online poker players, has stopped allowing poker transactions for U.S. customers. After the Neteller debacle that spanned the first half of 2007, ePassporte became the most popular method for U.S. players to get money to and from online poker sites.
The news spread quickly Friday night, as internet forums were bustling with questions as to whether the rumors were true. Soon, people began seeing ePassporte either disappearing as a deposit option from several poker sites, or temporarily frozen due to technical difficulties. Customer calls to ePassporte were met with denials, as customer service reps said there were simply technical problems. Other than that, all was supposedly well.

Washington, D.C. (April 22, 2008) Over one million poker enthusiasts are members of the Poker Players Alliance (PPA), the leading poker grassroots advocacy group. The organization, which is committed to protecting the rights of individuals to play poker, announced this significant milestone today as it also launched a voter registration program and its political action committee (PAC).
“Reaching one million members puts the PPA on par with such political powerhouses as AARP and the National Association of Realtors, and will allow us to advocate even more effectively on behalf of our members,” said PPA Chairman Former Senator Alfonse D’Amato.

Titan Poker, the largest poker room on the iPoker Network, sent a delegation of seven players to compete in the European Poker Tour (EPT) in San Remo, Italy, this month. The internationally renowned online poker site was represented by players from a range of countries, including Austria, Denmark, France, Italy, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
All players were awarded a prize package worth $10,000, which included $2,500 for flights, accommodations, and spending along with free entry to the 4,700+ 300 Euro Main Event. Daniel Walker, winner from the U.K, said that “the player that busted my pocket Jacks with his Queen-6 was Anthony Lellouche, who played extremely well and went on to finish in second place. He definitely put my chips to good use! Thanks again for organizing a great week - I had a spectacular time!”
Run it Twice at Carbon Poker
Posted by admin
Carbon Poker, the main poker room on the Merge Gaming Network, has implemented a unique feature to its games, one which players will be hard-pressed to find at most other online poker rooms. Players at Carbon will now have the option to run it twice.
Perhaps prompted by the popularity of High Stakes Poker, where it is frequently seen, running it twice, or dealing it twice as its called at Carbon, is available at real money no-limit holdem games. When two people (and only two) are all-in, they can opt to have the turn and river dealt two times (even if they are all-in pre-flop, it will still only be the turn and river dealt twice). If one player wins both times, he wins the pot. If each player wins one of the hands, the pot is split.

24 hour poker – is it fair?
Posted by admin
Poker is accepted by most people as a game of skill, and it is well known that poker players play for an extended period of time. But as online gaming companies make more effort to try and limit the amount of time people spend playing online, it seems land based casinos are beginning to go the opposite way.
A combination of media attention and social responsibility means that online gaming companies are offering preventative strikes against addicted gambling. These include time and spending limits to help reduce the number of hours spent playing online.
Potential New Law Aims to Eliminate Online Poker in Finland
Posted by admin
To put it mildly, a potential amendment to Finlands gambling laws is absolutely ridiculous. According to Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health will propose an addition to the law which would allow online gamblers to get back their losses.
Are we talking about some sort of tax deduction? No. If this amendment becomes an official part of the law, those who lose money playing poker, craps, blackjack, or other forms of gambling on the internet can actually get reimbursed for their losses. But from whom? Not from the government. The money would either come from the person who actually won the money, the online gambling company itself, or the credit card company the player used to make the deposit.
