De La Hoya Favourite In Dream Match – Online Casino News
Posted by admin
This Saturday sees one of the biggest bouts in recent boxing history take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas as American Oscar De La Hoya takes on Filipino Manny Pacquiao in the twelve-round Dream Match.
Although Pacquiao is the reigning World Boxing Council’s lightweight champion, the Dream Match will be a non-title bout with the winner likely to face English fighter Ricky Hatton at London’s Wembley Stadium or in Dubai sometime next year.
A legend in the world of boxing, Los Angeles-born De La Hoya has only been knocked out once in his 44 career bouts while Pacquiao, often referred to as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world, has suffered this fate twice in 52 fights.
Online bookmakers are listing De La Hoya as the favourites with PaddyPower.com, BetDirect.com, SkyBet.com ToteSport.com and StanJames.com giving odds of 4/11 that the 35-year-old will emerge victorious. Close behind is the 2/5 being offered by BlueSq.com, Boylesports.com, 888Sport.com, Coral.co.uk, ExtraBet.com and Ladbrokes.com. Bet365.com, BetFred.com, Canbet.com and WillHill.com are giving the American at 4/9 while Sportingbet.com have gone with 20/41.
Twenty-nine-year-old Pacquiao recently ran for a Congressional seat to represent the First District of South Cotabato but was defeated after his fans allegedly voted for his opponent, Darlene Antonino-Custodio, so that he would continue boxing. The Filipino fighter is listed at a best price of 2/1 at ToteSport.com and PaddyPower.com.
It seems highly unlikely that the match will end in a draw, but if you do fancy a flutter on the tie, a number of firms including Ladbrokes are offering a mouth-watering 25/1.
