2009 Stanley Cup Final Betting Odds
Posted by admin
Sportsinteraction.com has made the Detroit Red Wings a -164 favorite to win the 2009 Stanley Cup Final. The Pittsburgh Penguins 2009 Stanley Cup final betting odds pay $120 for every $100 bet.
"There is certainly value in betting the Penguins," states Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com. "Especially when you consider how banged up the Red Wings are coming into Saturday night’s Finals."
Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com argues that the Penguins may not have enough left in their tank to win two consecutive years.
"The Wings will need to get healthy in a hurry to defend that NHL championship. The Winged Wheel has a few dents.
"Marian Hossa was wearing an ice pack on his right knee after Wednesday’s drama-filled affair. Jonathan Ericsson had an emergency appendectomy in the afternoon. Lidstrom missed a second straight game with a lower-body injury. Pavel Datsyuk has missed three games with a foot injury. Kris Draper has been out two games with a groin injury. Andreas Lilja remains out (concussion), as does Tomas Kopecky (orbital bone)."
"Hopefully, you’re going to get some guys back," Wings coach Mike Babcock said of his own team. "Normally when you win in five games, you get this little break. But I think they’re trying to jam. I don’t know if we’re making up for lost time in the previous three series by jamming this all in 10 days or whatever we’re doing. They don’t ask me these questions."
It’s not just injuries that present a weakness for the Red Wings, points out Ari Baum-Cohen of Illegal Curve.
"Detroit’s major weakness this postseason has been penalty killing. The Red Wings have allowed power-play goals in 13 straight games before Wednesday’s contest against the Blackhawks. The Wings’ penalty kill is currently a dismal 73.7 percent.
"Pittsburgh’s power play, though unexceptional in the playoffs, is critical to its success. Detroit has not given up many 5-on-5 goals, so Pittsburgh will need to capitalize on its man-advantage opportunities. Crosby, Malkin, and five-time All-Star Sergei Gonchar will be relied on heavily to produce.
"Like any series with two offensively talented teams, goaltending will likely determine who comes away with the Cup. Chris Osgood is playing very well for the Red Wings in the 2009 playoffs and could very well be their nominee for the Conn Smythe Trophy. Osgood has posted a 2.06 GAA and .925 save percentage through the first three rounds."
History is on the Red Wings side when it comes to betting on this team in the Playoffs. As a -110 to -150 favorite (which is the line they opened at), Detroit has a record of 7-1. Likewise, they are 12-3 in their last 15 Stanley Cup Finals games. It should be noted, however, that Pittsburgh, using the money line in all games when playing against a team with a winning record in the second half of the season,
Has a record of 27 Wins and 13 Losses this season.
No matter how you look at this one, it promises to be a great game.

Business: Harrah’s Steps Up Their WSOP Promotions Under a New Title
Posted by admin
Before the weekend, legendary gambling franchise Harrah’s Entertainment announced that they will be expanding their online brand through a new business venture working under the title of “Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment.”
HIE has been charged with the maintenance, promotion and expansion of the already wildly popular World Series of Poker. As most poker fanatics already know the WSOP has been growing at an amazing rate, quadrupling their event participation in less than five years. The WSOP Main Event held in Las Vegas every year has long offered one of the largest—if not THE largest—cash tournament prizes in the poker industry. Just two years ago the WSOP added a European branch to the brand and true to the trends WSOP Europe has also experienced significant early success.
It was the keen interest of an international audience that inspired the formation of Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment. Heading the new group is none other than Party Poker alum and former Party Gaming CEO Mitch Garber. Jeffrey Pollack, already a familiar face in WSOP operations, will now step in as President of the new organization and pull double duty while retaining his position as WSOP Commissioner through 2009.
With the introduction of such a net-savvy staff, the online poker boards are buzzing with rumors that Harrah’s will soon expand their interests to online gambling. We can only hope!

NBA Playoff Betting Preview: Cavs vs. Magic
Posted by admin
The Cleveland Cavaliers are getting pushed around by the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals and the NBA’s best team during the regular season suddenly looks very beatable. The Orlando Magic will try and take a 3-1 lead in the series as they host the Cavaliers in Game 4 on Tuesday night.
SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Cavaliers on the Road.
The Cavaliers should be really concerned because they could easily be down 3-0 in this series if not for LeBron James’ last second shot in Game 2. James had 41 points in Game 3 but didn’t shoot the ball well and his teammates were even worse. Orlando didn’t shoot the ball well either but they did enough to win. And they also are winning the physical battle against Cleveland in a series dominated by fouls. "We just need to man up," James said. "Orlando is a very, very good team." The Magic made 19 of 23 free throws in the fourth quarter to hand Cleveland another loss in this series." We just kept fighting. That’s what we got to do, we fight to the end," Orlando’s Dwight Howard said, "We can’t worry about nothing, we can’t worry about the calls, can’t worry about nobody else. We just got to get out there and play."
The Cavaliers can’t win this series now without winning a game in Orlando where they have lost six of their last seven. "They create so many matchup problems for us," Cleveland’s Mo Williams said. "I know it. They know it. Everybody knows it."
Here are the NBA betting stats for Tuesday’s game. The Cavaliers are 10-2-1 ATS in their last 13 games as a favorite. The Cavaliers are 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 vs. the Southeast. The Cavaliers are 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Orlando.
The Magic are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a home underdog. The Magic are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 vs. the Central.
SBG Global Current Line: Cavaliers - 1.5 , Total 187.5
The Over is 5-1 in the Cavaliers last 6 Conference Finals games. The Under is 7-3 in the Cavaliers last 10 overall. The Under is 5-2 in Orlando’s last 7 overall. The Under is 27-11 in Orlando’s last 38 home games. The Under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Orlando between the two teams.

Online Gambling Reaching Fever Pitch With Belmont Stakes
Posted by admin

Belmont Stakes At this time of year the NFL is a distant memory in the minds of sports bettors. That leaves Baseball, basketball, and hockey as the major sports that can be wagered on. For six weeks in May and June, however, horse racing becomes a popular betting choice.
It started back when Mine That Bird came out of nowhere to win the Kentucky Derby as a 50-1 long shot. Anytime that kind of long shot comes in, bettors naturally take notice of the second leg of the Triple Crown, the Preakness Stakes.
Although Mine That Bird did not win the Preakness, Rachel Alexandra became the darling of the horse racing world. The online gambling on the race was fast and furious.
That brings us to the Belmont Stakes. The Belmont is a chance for the sports spotlight to once again be on the state of New York. There are many places to bet the Belmont in New York, but bettors are still preferring to place their wagers online.
There is two weeks off between the Preakness and the Belmont, which provides bettors extra time to determine which horse they will pick to win. Being that it is also the last race of the Triple Crown, it also tends to be one of the largest of the three in terms of gambling revenue.
Mine That Bird is the early favorite to come back and capture two of the three Triple Crown races, but the horse will have stiff competition from the rest of the field. Check back with NOC for full betting lines in the coming week.

Oklahoma Next Battleground State for Online Gambling
Posted by admin
Mark Schlachtenhaufen of the Edmond Sun warns that Oklahoma may be gearing up to stop online gambling in that state, following similar attempts by Kentucky and Minnesota.
From the Sun:
"State Attorney General Drew Edmondson, a candidate for governor, has said he thinks Internet gambling is illegal in Oklahoma. And Edmondson wants federal legislation clarifying Internet gambling laws.
"Yet Oklahoma contains many gambling outlets, including the state-run lottery, more than 80 tribal casinos and two "racinos," horsetracks with casinos, as of 2007. Another casino soon could be coming to central Oklahoma.
"The federal Bureau of Indian Affairs is considering the Shawnee tribe’s request to put land near Remington Park into trust. If the bureau agrees, the tribe plans to build a Las Vegas-style hotel and casino. Tribal leaders said economic analyses indicate the project would have a $354 million annual positive impact on Oklahoma City. Opponents say it would be bad news, perhaps fatal, for Remington Park."
"This seems to signal a coordinated assault in the Oklahoma State," said Joe Brennan, Jr., founder of the Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association.
Earlier this month, Brennan, Jr’s group went after the state of Minnesota for its attempts to block citizens access to Internet gambling sites. His organization will be watching developments in Oklahoma closely.

Jimmie Johnson Says Danica Patrick is Not Ready for NASCAR
Posted by admin
Jimmie Johnson to Danica Patrick: "Come on over, although not until you’re ready. And, trust me, you’re not ready."
That was his advise to the Go Daddy spokesperson who is contemplating a jump over to NASCAR.
His suggestion is for Patrick to re-sign with the Indy Racing League and spend her free time driving on minor league stock car circuits so she can learn to handle the vastly different machine. It’s not her lack of talent, he says, it’s her lack of experience, according to Yahoo Sports.
"If she’s serious about doing it, she needs to spend a year or two, while racing IRL, running ARCA, running trucks, running Nationwide and really understanding the difference in the vehicles," Johnson told Yahoo! Sports last week.
"Otherwise, she’s going to be put in a tough situation. … You can’t just show up in the Cup Series and go."

Record Breaking Mega Moolah Jackpot Won
Posted by admin
For months, slot players have had their sights set on the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot and last Saturday somebody finally hit it big.
A Record Breaking Win
We told you about the jackpot setting a new record, surpassing the previous high of $5.5 Million that was won at the time by a player called Klaus E. from Finland. It was no surprise then that slot players from all over the world were locked in on this huge jackpot, with one very lucky player winning $6.3 Million two days ago.
No details have been released yet as to who won the jackpot and at which casino, but seeing as the Mega Moolah is hosted at Microgaming casinos, we do know that the player was not a U.S. citizen since U.S players currently are not allowed at these casinos thanks to the horrible UIGEA.
The Importance of The Pro-Gambling bill
It’s moment like this that underline the importance of Barney Frank’s Pro-Gambling Bill, as U.S. players would also have a chance at winning such a great jackpot.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed that Mr. Frank can get that bill approved and in the meantime, they will just have to keep playing at the other great online casinos that do accept U.S. players.

Texas poker bill languishes without Governor’s support
Posted by admin
According to reports in the Austin American-Statesman, a bill seeking to legalise Texas poker proposed by San Antonio Democrat Representative Jose Menendez may not be approved this time around – the third failure of such a proposal to make it through the legislative system.
The reason appears to be doubts that Republican governor Rick Perry would be prepared to sign the measure into law even if it was approved by the Legislature.
The HB222 Texas’ Poker Gaming Act of 2009 was reintroduced last November by Menendez and passed out of the House committee that oversees gambling issues in April by a vote of 6-3.
And there it has languished. The Austin American-Statesman reported Friday: “Rep. Jose Menendez….said at midday he won’t push for action unless GOP Gov. Rick Perry signals he’d sign such a plan into law.”
That was followed by a spokesman for the governor advising that Perry was not in favor of the bill.
“For the third session in a row, I think poker’s dead,” Menendez was quoted as saying.
